Luke & Shannon — a wedding at Castello Monaci
Among the pale stone walls of Castello Monaci, in the heart of Salento, Luke and Shannon's wedding told itself, moment by moment: a groomsman peeking playfully through a doorway, five men in tuxedos pushing a cream-coloured vintage car, a burst of laughter on the stairs with a glass of champagne in hand.
The venue, set among vineyards and olive groves, offered all the warm light of a late Apulian afternoon — perfect for alternating intense black-and-white portraits with brighter colour shots, the ones where the festivity's colours — the fuchsia bougainvillea, the green of the gardens — deserved to take centre stage.
Getting ready, full of humour and closeness
Before the ceremony, the wedding party gave us some of the day's most spontaneous moments: the bride and her friends laughing under parasols, the groomsmen striking a pose with their sunglasses on before anyone even asked. It's exactly these unplanned, unrequested moments that so often become the couple's favourite photographs.
A vintage car as the day's thread
The white convertible became the true star of the group photos: groomsmen perched on the bonnet, on the boot, leaning against the open door. A simple way to bring energy and play into a photo session that could otherwise risk becoming just a sequence of forced poses.
The ceremony, beneath the castle's towers
Luke reached the aisle walked by his mothers, in a quiet moment before the ceremony began. The rite then took place in the shadow of Castello Monaci's tower, among white flowers and the pale stone that has always defined this venue — a backdrop that needed no staging at all.
A party under string lights
As evening fell, the garden lit up with string lights strung between the trees, and the tables set for the reception welcomed guests for a dinner that carried on late into the night — the natural close to a day lived lightly from the very first moment.
